This
book was created because my son, Connor, was having
trouble with math. He hadn’t grasped his addition and
subtraction yet, and multiplication was being
introduced. Needless to say, homework wasn’t an
enjoyable time at our house. Because I love my son, and
I didn’t want his confidence in his school abilities to
slide any further, I put this system together at our
kitchen table.
It
worked for Connor because he was willing to try
something new. Within a few weeks, a child who disliked
math and who didn’t do well in the subject had made
remarkable strides towards mastering the times tables.
As time went on and he forgot one of the math facts, he
was able to go back and use the system to find the
answer. He felt empowered because he had increased his
independence as a learner. He knew how to eliminate the
guesswork.
The time that it takes for the children in your care
to learn the times tables will vary, but if it helps to
ease the frustration in your home or classroom, it’s
worth it.
Using
cartoons, stories and songs, this book provides a unique
approach that combines both common sense and modern
educational research. Students can use some or all of
this book to learn or consolidate what they already
know.
Many people see themselves as math-challenged. With KTS,
it doesn’t matter. This system eliminates the guesswork
and helps both the quick and slower learner get the math
facts into their long-term memory. Your positive support
will be enough to help them learn the times tables
quicker and remember them.
